What This Service Provides

Everything in one place

Most people never organize their End of Life information. When something unexpected happens, families face confusion, delay, and preventable loss. This service changes that.

01

Personal Identity & Family

Full legal name, date and place of birth, address, Social Security Number (optional), contact details, marital status, children, and next of kin.

02

Legal Documents

Will, trust, powers of attorney, advance directive, living will, POLST form, estate attorney — all in one organized reference your executor can rely on.

03

Financial Overview

Bank accounts, investments, retirement accounts, real property, life insurance, debts, and the location of all important financial documents.

04

Medical Wishes & Digital Assets

Your healthcare preferences, physicians, medications, and allergies. Plus online accounts, passwords manager location, social media wishes, and digital property.

05

Funeral & Memorial Wishes

Burial or cremation preference, columbarium or scattering details, service type, readings, music, officiant — everything your family needs to honor you correctly.

06

Veteran Benefits (if applicable)

Branch of service, dates, rank, MOS, DD-214 or NGB-22 location, VA benefits, and national cemetery eligibility — including National Guard and Reserve members.

Privacy & Security

Your information stays with you

This service is designed to protect your most sensitive personal information. Here is exactly where your data goes — and where it does not.

🔒

Stored on Your Device Only

Your answers are saved in your browser's local storage — the same technology used by banking apps. They never leave your device. No database. No server. No cloud storage of your personal answers.

📄

Document Generated Locally

Your Word document is built entirely inside your browser from your own answers. It is not sent to any external service. Only you receive the final file.

🚫

No Account Required

We do not ask for your name, email, or any identifier to use this service. There is no login, no registration, and no profile created on any server.

🔑

Passwords Never Collected

The Digital Assets section asks only whether a password manager or secure document exists — never for actual passwords or credentials. These are explicitly excluded.

⚠️

Important: This document is not a legal instrument

The End of Life documentation package is an organizing and reference tool for your family and executor. It is not a legal will, trust, or advance directive. For legal documents, please consult a licensed attorney. For veteran benefits questions, please consult an accredited VA claims agent.

Take days, weeks, or months.
We'll hold your place.

Automatic Saving

Your answers save automatically to your browser every time you complete a question. If you close the window mid-session, your progress is preserved.

When you return, you will see a Saved Session Found screen showing exactly how long ago you saved and which section you were on — color-coded so you can see at a glance how fresh your session is.

📱

Same browser · Same device

Your session is saved to the specific browser on the specific device you used. If you start on your laptop, you must finish on that same laptop in the same browser. Opening the app on your phone or a different computer will show a fresh start — your laptop's session will not transfer automatically.

Backup File — For Long Gaps or Device Changes

If you plan to take a break of more than a few days, or if you are concerned about losing your progress (browser clearing, new computer, travel), we strongly recommend downloading a backup file.

  1. Click Save & Exit during any interview question, or Save Backup (.json) on the Review screen
  2. A file named YourName_EOL_Progress.json will download to your device
  3. Save it somewhere safe — your desktop, a USB drive, or email it to yourself
  4. When you return — on any computer, any browser — open eol.rmcape.com and click Restore from Backup File on the opening screen
  5. Select your saved .json file and your session resumes exactly where you left off

Common Questions

What you may be wondering

Straightforward answers to the questions we hear most often.

How long does the interview take?
Most people complete the full interview in 45–90 minutes if they have all their information at hand. The service is designed for you to move at your own pace — you can answer a few questions today, pause, and return tomorrow or next week to continue. There is no time limit and no pressure.
What if I don't know the answer to a question?
Simply leave it blank or click Skip. The question is noted as "To be determined" in your document, and Section 11 of your package lists all skipped items with recommended next steps. You can return later, fill in the gaps, and regenerate your document as many times as you like.
Can I edit my answers after I've submitted them?
Yes. On the Review screen (before generating your document), you can click Edit next to any answer. After generating, you can return to the app, click Back to Questions, make changes, and regenerate. Your session stays saved until you explicitly click "Start a New Session."
I cleared my browser history — is my session lost?
If you cleared your browser's site data or used private/incognito mode, the locally-saved session will be gone. This is why we recommend downloading a backup .json file before any long break or browser maintenance. The backup file restores your complete session regardless of browser history.
Can I use this on my phone or tablet?
The app works on phones and tablets. However, you cannot start on one device and continue on another using the automatic save — the session is tied to the browser it was started in. If you want to switch devices, download a backup file on the first device and restore it on the second.
Is this available in Spanish?
Yes. When you begin, you will be asked to select your language — English or Spanish. The entire interview, all question text, and your completed document will be in the language you choose. You may not switch languages mid-session.
I am a veteran — is there special coverage for my benefits?
Yes. If you indicate military service, the interview includes a dedicated veterans section covering branch, dates of service, rank, MOS/specialty, DD-214 or NGB-22 accessibility, current VA benefits, potential unclaimed benefits, and national cemetery burial eligibility. National Guard and Reserve members are explicitly included — the questions address Title 10 activation eligibility and note that an accredited VA claims agent can confirm cemetery eligibility.
What do I do with the document once it's generated?
Store it securely and inform your executor and healthcare proxy where it is kept. Good options include: a home safe, a safe deposit box, a secured folder shared with your attorney, or a password-protected file on your computer. We recommend printing a physical copy and keeping it with your other important documents. The document is a reference tool — not a legal instrument. Share it with your estate attorney as a starting point for legal document preparation.
